About KSWF

The Kenule Saro-Wiwa Foundation (KSWF) was founded in 2017 to foster environmental sustainability by supporting a climate in which the management of natural resources, technological advancements, investment decisions and socio-economic development all work in harmony, fulfilling the needs and aspirations of the people of the Niger Delta in particular, and global south as a whole.

Programmes
Artivism:
  • The KSWF is commitment to promote art as a tool for activism, advocacy and communication.
  • The KSWF is determined to assist in grooming and developing aspiring artists to use art as a veritable instrument to influence policies and promote social justice for the good of humanity.
  • The KSWF is devoted to support the next generation of critical thinkers, storytellers and activists in the Niger Delta Region in particular and the Global South in general.
  • The KSWF is intentional about the use of different forms of literature as driver of creative change; especially among indigenous communities where multinationals operates.
  • The KSWF is committed to the education of youths in the art of storytelling. It is our passion to groom the younger generation to appreciate literature as a tool for change.
  • The KSWF is dedicated to telling stories through traditional and contemporary modes of expression to promote peace, cultural values, and economic vitality of the Niger Delta Region and the Global South.
  • The KSWF is dedicated to fostering a culture of environmental protection, climate change solutions and sustainable livelihood.
  • We shall continue to be voice of Ken Saro-Wiwa to demand climate justice for climate vulnerable communities, particularly among the Niger Delta Regions, and the world at large.
  • We are committed to supporting environmental stewardship in the Niger Delta by communities about climate change,
  • One of our key focuses is to enhance research on mangrove forest restoration and working with stakeholders in promoting sustainable environmental practices.
  • We cooperate and collaborate with projects to restore biodiversity hotspots that were lost as a result of logging, engage in tree planting projects,
  • We engage in climate change policies that foster adaptation and mitigation approaches to address the effects of climate change.
  • In line with Ken Saro-Wiwa’s vision of ecologically sustainable economic opportunities for the oil bearing communities.
  • The KSWF encourages research on sustainable economies underscored by the drive to engender diversification, and to discourage fixation on fossil fuel and mono-economic production.
  • As a Foundation, we have two Innovation Hubs at Port Harcourt and Bane respectively; thus, we are dedicated to using these hubs to incubate tech-entrepreneurs
  • We are committed to the empowerment of younger generation through training, workshops and seminars on technological advancement
  • We promote innovative learning and knowledge transfer for community development and youth development.
  • As a Foundation we are committed to partnering and/or collaborating with other organizations on any or all of our programmes.
  • We are open to consider proposition to leverage other platforms that seek to strengthen the goals, vision, mission, values and principles of the Ken Saro-Wiwa foundation.
